EBAS are proud to announce that they have successfully completed their first installation of a Batch 3 Upgrade on a Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft. The software upgrade, which introduces new capabilities to the existing Honeywell avionics suite, is designed to support Required Navigational Performance (RNP) functionality as well as provisions for future navigation and communication systems and was completed at EBAS’ new Diamond Hangar facility at London Stansted Airport.
The installation was combined with additional modifications which introduce Future Air Navigation System (FANS 1/A+) or Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) capability and a Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) which allows for Localiser Performance with Vertical guidance (LPV) approach capability.
“This modification represents another significant milestone for EBAS and demonstrates our expanding capability to perform complex upgrades with speed and efficiency. The Global is a very sophisticated aircraft and we place great importance on providing the highest quality of avionics support possible. In this way, we can help our customers comply with all future mandatory operational requirements and deliver reliable aircraft every time”, commented EBAS’ Director, Mark Abbott.
